Types of Abuse
What is Abuse?
Abuse includes, violent, threatening and repeated use of coercive and controlling behaviour which occurs within families or intimate relationships.
Examples of Abusive Behaviours:
- Hitting, kicking, slapping, choking or other forms of assault
- Sexual Assault
- Isolation from friends and family
- Threat of abuse towards the victim, the children or other family members
- Threats to take the children away from victim
- Disconnecting phone, locking victim in house, controlling money
- Repeated insults and humiliation in front of others
